However it’s the surrounding Andean landscapes that really bring this city and region to life, where we can find multi-colored mountains, deep blue glacial lagoons, snow-capped peaks and untamed wildlife in all corners. As a result there are many unforgettable hiking circuits to head on from Cusco, which all offer something slightly different.

In this article we’ll explore 5 of the very best multi-day hikes that you can do from Cusco, and why each one is worth the visit. We’ll also cover everything else you need to know for a trip, including the best time to hike, preparation and how to book a tour.

Why Head On A Multi-Day Hike From Cusco?

One of the very best countries to go trekking within South America, Peru has many incredible hiking circuits which include those found in Huaraz as well as those within the Amazon Jungle. However the multi-day circuits that can be taken from Cusco are something special in their own right.

Just over 500 years ago this region was once the beating heart of the legendary Inca civilization, who were both formidable and way before their time. They were perhaps best known for their advancements in stonemasonry and architecture, which allowed them to create many incredible structures which we can still see today (such as the perfectly-fitted giant stones of Sacsayhuamán Ruins).

During a multi-day hike from Cusco we can see even more of these spectacular creations, and especially on the Inca Trail which includes the strongholds of Wiñay Wayna and Sayaqmarca. On other treks we can also interact with different remote Andean communities, who still live and practice the ancient ways of their ancestors today.

Of course the scenery of these regions are special in their own right, which includes multi-coloured Rainbow Mountains, towering snow-capped peaks and high Amazon Jungle. Given the variety of biomes here, this means we can see a variety of exotic animals along treks such as Vicuñas, Spectacled Bears, Viscachas as well as the emblematic orange Cock-of-the-rock (which is the national bird of Peru).

How To Get To Cusco

Despite Cusco’s remote location deep within the Peruvian Andes, getting here is quite simple given how it has now become one of the most popular places to visit within this iconic South American nation. Regardless of which you choose, you’ll first need to arrive into the capital of Lima, which is the main gateway into Peru.

Flying from Lima to Cusco is the most popular option, which is a one hour flight over the scenic Andes Mountains. Airlines such as LATAM and Sky Airlines operate dozens of flights daily, with a one-way costing roughly $35-50 (without baggage). This is the best option for those who are either short on time in Peru and want to arrive into Cusco without delay, or for those who want a more comfortable travel option.

Our next method of getting from Lima to Cusco is by bus, which despite being the cheaper option (around $20-30), will take a sobering 20-22 hours to arrive from the capital. Within the district of La Victoria in Lima we can find numerous bus operators which all vary in comfort and extras, with the most popular being Palomino and Paredes Estrella. Of course the long ride puts many off, however it is a solid option for those who want to cut travel costs, those who have a longer time in Peru or for those who simply want a new adventure.

1. Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai is one of the most popular digital nomad destinations in Southeast Asia, thanks to its affordability and excellent infrastructure. Situated in northern Thailand, you’ll find a relaxed pace of life mixed with plenty of modern conveniences.

Living costs are seriously low, with apartments starting at around $200 per month and street food meals costing under $2. There are numerous great coworking spaces, ideal for networking and remote work, including Punspace and Hub 53.

2. Podgorica, Montenegro

Aside from being a very affordable place to live, the tiny nation is accessible in its entirety within a few hours of the capital Podgorica. It’s perfectly located with excellent beaches a few hours one way, and the mountains and ski slopes a few hours the other.

The city itself is a modern and well-developed destination with plenty on offer for digital nomads to enjoy. Decent and reliable WiFi is available everywhere, even in public areas, and the cafe culture, wine scene, and nightlife are all fantastic.

3. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

I spent a month house sitting in Ho Chi Minh City, and it soon became one of my favorite, affordable digital nomad destinations. This city oozes a startling contrast where traditional Vietnamese culture meets business and ultra-modern amenities.

It’s one of the most affordable cities I’ve ever visited, where meals at local eateries cost just $1–$3 and are usually hearty and delicious. Transport is straightforward, with Grab rides costing a few bucks and the option of cheap buses to take you anywhere you need to go.<

What Makes a Good Website?

These are the main things to consider when creating a website.

1. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

How do you make a good website? Well, you make sure that it has SEO implemented, or else it’s never going to get any traffic from any search engine, especially Google. In order to have your content seen, you’ll need SEO.

SEO can take time to build up, so make sure that you start implementing it when you start your website for good measure. If you don’t know a whole lot about it, I suggest investing in an SEO course or using free resources that you can find online.

2. Design

Without a strong design, you aren’t going to have an appealing website. Design is what sets your website apart from others so that it doesn’t look so cookie-cutter.

Truth be told, the design does not have to be as in-depth as you might initially think. It can be as simple as using a free template and changing out the colours to make sure that it doesn’t match other websites that use the same template.

3. Calls to Action

To know what makes a good website, you have to learn what a CTA, or call to action, is. Essentially, this is any time on your site that you prompt your visitor to do something.

For example, “download now” is a simple CTA commonly used when talking about freebies on a website.

The best way to make these recognizable is to have them be designed the same way every time there’s a CTA. So, maybe every CTA has a green background so that your visitor knows where they’re prompted to do something.

4. User Experience

At its core, your website was created to help, educate, or inspire a visitor. So, you want to make sure that users can quickly get around your website without much hassle. 

Think about what would make the most sense as someone visiting your site. What do you want them to see first? Would they be more likely to look for your social media links at the top of your site or in the footer? 

User experience will be different for every industry.

5. Links

Links are essential when it comes to having a strong website. Not only is it good for SEO, but it makes your user experience a lot better too.

When I say links, I don’t only mean links to other websites but also other pages or posts within your own site. Interlinking your content is key for navigation, and having readers see more of your content.

If you mention a freebie or a downloadable that you offer, be sure to link to it.

When you write your website copy, you want to think about how easy it is to read. Keep in mind that legibility and readability are two different thing
